Shirley Thompson

Shirley ThompsonShirley Thompson started her career in real estate in 1992 as a fourth generation Realtor. Fortunate to work for a company that trained and motivated their team, she was able to achieve her real estate goals early in her career. During this time she sold many new homes and found that she loved the idea of helping to shape entire neighborhoods by the homes that were built.

Shirley decided that working for a National Homebuilder was the next logical step in her career. From 1997 to 2010 she worked for Beazer Homes. During this time she sold hundreds of homes across the Phoenix Metro Area. In 2005, Shirley was given the opportunity to manage the sales team. Her success was measured on profit and sales for the company plus the ability to support and encourage her team. Knowing that a well trained, motivated team ultimately would increase sales; this was her focus.

One of her lifelong desires had always been to start a real estate company. Shirley was committed to growing a company that supported a sales team regardless of the market conditions. She visualized a company that had well trained agents, who knew the importance of working hard to get the job done. She wanted a company of like minded agents who put their clients first.

With her mother, Nancy Swain and her husband Jimmie Thompson, they combined their years of real estate experience and dedication to create Road To Home Realty. With Shirley as the Designated Broker, they have created a company of well trained, experienced agents that understand the importance of working hard to make their client’s dreams a reality.

Nancy Swain

Nancy SwainNancy Swain started her real estate career long before getting her license in 1986. As a third generation Realtor and daughter of the owner of a very successful real estate company in Chevy Chase, Maryland, she has been around the real estate business her entire life.

Nancy spent her early adult life living in Vail, Colorado; where she owned and operated The Sugarplum Tree with her husband. As her children grew Nancy knew that she and her husband Mike wanted to move back to the city. After deciding on Phoenix, Arizona due to the proximity of her best friend and sister Sharon Metzler; they made the move.

Nancy and Sharon both set out to get their real estate licenses in early 1986 with dreams of continuing the family business. Nancy spent her early years in real estate selling new homes all over the Valley. Many of those years were spent selling what was the then the up and coming new community of Sun City West. To this day she still is in contact with many of her clients from this time.

Nancy knew that ultimately she wanted to work with her sister Sharon. They both spent 10 years working for a real estate company that had offices in many of the local shopping malls. The experience she gained during this time lead her to work for a national real estate company until 2011. Nancy always knew that the experience she was gaining not only helped her clients achieve their dreams but would one day allow her the opportunity to achieve her goal of being a business owner again. This is how Road To Home Realty was established.

Steven Benitez

Steven is also founder and current principle of an architectural firm. His expertise in design and planning allows him to embrace the professional fields of real estate and architecture with ease and find clients appreciate such a fusion.

With over 25 years creatively finding solutions for professionals like you, Steven has worked within many locales, such as Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Carefree, as well as developments including Silver Leaf, Desert Mountain, Camelback Mountain and Arcadia.

Steven enjoys assisting as well as educating. While property investors find his expertise invaluable, his keen sense for design very often becomes the solution to many pressing questions.

Tamara Kuehl

Tamara KuehlTamara Kuehl who goes by Tami started her career in real estate as a receptionist for a homebuilder in 1993. In early 1994 she was promoted to closing coordinator where she was responsible for coordinating all closings and later added the duties of processing contracts for sales agents.

This began her love for the real estate business.

Working for several homebuilders she worked her way up to a Closing Manager for a homebuilder in 2001 and while working there her Broker suggest she go to school and get a real estate license. She obtained her license in 2005.

Being laid off in 2006 due to the homebuilding market taking a downturn, she accepted a job as Closing Manager for Beazer homes in early 2007 where I worked with the sales manager Shirley Thompson.  At that time the homebuilding market was still not rebounding Beazer Homes created a western regional accounting center that incorporated all of the accounting, contract and closing duties in the Phoenix office? This reorganization promoted her to a Regional Escrow Manager for not only the Phoenix market but Las Vegas, NV, Albuquerque, NM and Dallas TX. As a Regional Escrow Manager her department was responsible for processing all contracts and closings in each of those markets.

In April of 2012 Tami decided to retire from the homebuilding industry. But still having a love for the business she decided to join Road to Home Realty with Shirley Thompson as her broker. Shirley had left Beazer Homes and obtained her broker’s license to start Road to Home realty.

Working with Shirley at Beazer Homes and knowing her to be ethical, knowledgeable and an all around great person decided to hang her license at Road to Home Realty. The bonus was being able to work with her husband Jimmie Thompson who has supported me through the process of resale real estate.

Both Shirley and Jimmie Thompson give their clients exceptional customer service whether it’s listing their homes or assisting them in buying a home and treating and teaching their sales agents in the same manner always being there for whatever they need. This in itself has aided her in being able to give her clients the best customer service for all of her buyers and sellers needs along with her passion for the real estate business.

Jerilyn Babicky

Jerilyn BabickyJerilyn has been in the real estate industry for 17 years beginning her career as a Real Estate Appraiser. She co-founded Cornerstone Appraisal Group in Phoenix in 2003 where she established her skills as an appraiser, mentor and manager. Jerilyn joined Road to Home Realty after her daughter had an amazing experience working with them to purchase a home in 2012.

Jerilyn enjoys singing in her spare time. She has performed with the Arizona Opera where she appeared in Turandot and Romeo & Juliet. She currently performs in the Valley with Mancini The Band, Apexx Band and Pizzazz! She enjoys living in Arizona with all of the outdoor activities including hiking, rafting, camping and site seeing.

My family moved to the “Valley Of The Sun” from Detroit, MI in 1966. I was a young boy that grew up here and watched this city grow up as well. I may never leave this beautiful city.

I attended public schools in the Paradise Valley and Alhambra school districts, as well as Glendale Community College and Universal Technical Institute. My life before real estate was as an air conditioning contractor and a general contractor here for over 28 years.

Some of my first experiences in the real estate field was when I bought a residential lot and built a home for my family. Soon after that I acquired a commercial land lot and constructed a 10,000 square foot office / warehouse building to house my businesses and leased a portion of the building as well. Although I am a relatively new Realtor, I have extensive knowledge of home construction and our vast sprawling metropolitan areas and the abundant neighborhoods that can serve your family, adult and retirement community needs.

Jimmie Thompson

Jimmie ThompsonJimmie Thompson became a full time Realtor in 2002. He made the jump from his family’s restaurant business to his wife’s family business of real estate. Jimmie attributes his success to many people from his family.

His parents, Jim and Linda Thompson, Dairy Queen franchisees for over 35 years showed him the dedication needed to be an entrepreneur. The gift of “never meeting a stranger” was given to him from his Grandpa Rehmer who seemed to know everyone in his community. Representing his clients “the right way” and putting their needs ahead of anything else was taught to him by his wife’s aunt, Sharon Metzler and his mother-in-law, Nancy Swain; third generation Realtors.

As a real estate consultant, Jimmie has learned a lot from those around him but also from the hundreds of clients he has represented. His transactions have varied from $40,000 fixer uppers to million dollar luxury homes. Jimmie has seen his share of buyer markets and seller markets. In other words, he has been there for the good and the bad.
